Songs From The Movies Revisited
Who doesn't like going to the movies?
That is unless you saw a particular big budget Hollywood feature that turned out to be a bomb.
But that's not the case with the Music Makers from 1980 with their salute to the silver screen!
Why settle for just being a star when you can shoot for the moon? That's what Arthur Duncan is doing....
But of course, the road to stardom can be on the paths less traveled.....
......however, these highlights from this episode prove that no road can ever be so bumpy and rough.

No Welk this week in Toledo
Both the Northwest Ohio PBS stations were in mini-pledge mode....
Luckily, the would-be scheduled show is Occupations from 1969 which I already have on tape.....
It's a reminder about the uncertainly of the future of public broadcasting, so hopefully you'll do your part with your support, I know I have.

First post since the Rapture
Well, the supposed Rapture came and went and nothing happened...

I Left My Heart in..... Oakland?
First off, Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there, including my own!
Watched the repeat of the 1968 California show last night, it's where the Maestro filmed his segments with a neat life-sized cut-out of the state of California.
I noticed in the point of the show where Lawrence introduced Jimmy Roberts' number, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" and then went about to point his baton where the Golden Gate City is located.....
....but there's one little error here.
Somehow, San Francisco is now located in the East Bay, where Oakland is....
Me thinks the citizenry there would not be too pleased.

And the Musical Family would not touch the buffet table with a ten foot pole.

It was 31 years ago when Lawrence Welk celebrated 25 years on television
Now that the pledge drives have ended, it's back to the regular cycle of Welk show airings.
And this week was the 25th anniversary show from 1980.
That's gonna hold enough Geritol to feed the entire population of Wood County....
I can hear the sounds of the violin in the background, must be from Bob Lido's fiddle.
Forget about The Bachelor, our own Dick Dale has to fight 'em off with a stick!
....and even in the midst of all that, Charlie Parlato stands tall (on a box)

I think this mass transit thingy is catching on....
From this week's episode "Big City USA", the Music Makers are doing their part to reduce our country's dependency on oil.
They are taking the trolley.....like Kathie Sullivan
....and Mary Lou Metzger along with Jack Imel find mass transit quite friendly and pleasant.
