Those Great Entertainers

This week, the Champagne Music Makers salute the icons of entertainment that made America great!

Highlights include Mary Lou singing her love letter to the Came With The Frame family picture....

Bob Ralston combining Yoga with playing the piano....

.....and Neil Levang plays the guitar while Jack Imel just sits there.

And speaking of Mary Lou, she's also your host this week.

GREAT ENTERTAINERS - October 10, 1981

1. SWANEE - lead vocal by Ken Delo with Joe (Feeney), Ron, Tom, Sheila, Gail, Kathie, Anacani, Jimmy (Roberts), Michael, Mary Lou, Sherry and Jim

17. I'M A YANKEE DOODLE DANDY/YOU'RE A GRAND OLD FLAG - Sheila, Ken, Mary Lou, Anacani, Michael, Sherry, Kathie, Jimmy, Tom, Ron, Gail with dancing by Jack Imel, Arthur Duncan and Bobby Burgess

The Otwell Twins, David and Roger, did not appear in this program which meant we got to hear the Aldridge Sisters perform as a duo with "I Still Get That Honeymoon Feeling".

I must say that Sheila and Sherry did a great job with their treatment of Roy Clark's hit song.

We also heard Ralna English in the solo spot with "Stormy Weather" as a nice tribute to Lena Horne who sadly passed away this week at the age of 92. If there was anyone that would be considered as Lena's equal for talent, vocal and stage presence, Ralna would fit the bill.

Right now, I'm still trying to remember what the name of the Liberace tune that Bob Ralston played so for now in the song listings, I referred to it as "A Musical Tribute to Liberace" which Bob did an incredible job.

You must see it for yourself, words alone could not describe his performance.

So until next week, keep a song in your heart and if you're in a pickle, let's face the music and dance!

I don't remember the name of the Liberace song either, although I believe Myron Floren, rather than Lawrence, introduced it.

Also, I don't remember the part in which Jack Imel is sitting behind Neil Levang. Which song was that?

To this day, I'm still rattling my brains on the Liberace song, it's one of those "It's on the tip of my tongue" moments.

Also the number Jack Imel was sitting behind Neil Levang was the Rhapsody In Blue instrumental

The Liberace song Bob Ralston played was 12 Street Rag.
Also I have seen the real Liberace perform, about a dozen times.Ralston's performance was nothing like the real Liberace. It was a distasteful second rate demeaning putdown of a great artist.Jealousy I presume.Welk himself says he didn't ask him to play that number, who's the Boss anyway.
