More Welk madness on SNL

Junice has struck again.

Recently on Saturday Night Live, the show opened with yet another parody of Lawrence Welk and his Music Makers, this time featuring Melissa McCarthy, the star from the sitcom Mike and Molly.

Here, we have a fellow I assume is pretending to be Dick Dale joining the sisters from the Finger Lakes in a song about autumn.

Enjoy!

Junice strikes again!

It's been a while, but we have another Lawrence Welk parody on Saturday Night Live....

Last night, Junice and her sisters from the Finger Lakes made magic on the small screen, this time with SNL's featured host this week, the Piano Man himself, Sir Elton John.

Here's the video in all their comedic glory....

And now, here's a word from our sponsor

We'll be right back after this message about Geritol....

Here is Ted Mack to tell us more....

Feeling tired? Run down? Is your blood iron poor?

Brother, you have problems....that's why there's Geritol!

It's got enough of the essential vitamins to not only feel stronger fast, but enough energy to audition your given talents for my brilliant and entertaining Amateur Hour instead of that stupid American Idol crap on FOX.

And don't get me started on Paula Abdul's new dance show either.....

So take it from me, and Lawrence....fellas who know how to bring you good quality television, take Geritol.

You'll feel stronger fast, and then some!

SNL strikes again on Mothers Day

The gang from Saturday Night Live has done it again,

Starting with Fred Armisen's superb impression of the Maestro, the talented youngsters of SNL opened the show with another Lawrence Welk parody.

Also taking part in the skit was TV legend Betty White, whom thanks to the successful Facebook petition, hosted this week's show.

A job well done boys and girls!

Overlooked Nuggets from Lawrence Welk's TV Treasures

It has pledge week in my viewing area for the last two weeks....and today on WBGU out of Bowling Green, we got to see the classic pledge special Lawrence Welk's TV Treasures.

But here are some TV treasures from the special that didn't make the final cut, so right here....a Welk Musical Family exclusive, more musical memories you didn't get to see.

There's the 1980 episode where Johnny Zell had problems blowing into his trumpet....looks like the fellas played a practical joke on him by stuffing his horn with chewing gum.

There's also the show from 1969 when a car used in a musical number ran out of gas.....

.....and who can forget a Silver Champagne Special when Bob Lido realized that he's not supposed to put his lunch in the microwave wrapped in tin foil?

And finally, when Tanya was scheduled to do a number with her playing the flute....but since she accidentally left the instrument at home, she had to improvise.

It's all in good, clean fun....

Keep a song in your heart and enjoy the week ahead!

Letters to a young Lawrence Welk

Have you ever been curious on how the Chicken Dance began?

I received a link to a great satirical article written by Matt Evans, it's about a young Lawrence Welk and his correspondence with Rainer Maria Rilke.

It's both very clever and funny!

I posted the link on my webpage's humor section, but I also posted the link here on this blog....just click below.

Return of the Meryl Sisters

They're back....the Lawrence Welk Show on Saturday Night Live!

I was able to record SNL's season finale on my DVR, and they did not disappoint!

Once again, Fred Armisen did a brilliant job as the Maestro. The gang at 30 Rock did their own version of a popular Welk show theme "Springtime".

On tonight's show, it's Will Ferrell as handsome baritone Ted Nethers.....a cross between Steve Smith, Ken Delo, Tom Netherton and Jack Imel.

And of course....our favorite sister act from the Finger Lakes, the Meryl Sisters!

....which also includes Judis, baby doll hands and all.

Man, it was funny and entertaining....and talk about perfect timing. I'll be at Bear Creek on Wednesday to see Gail, Sandi and Mary Lou, maybe I'll ask them if they seen this episode.

The Rainier Beer Waltz

Found this gem on YouTube, it's a commercial for Rainier Beer where they parody Lawrence Welk and his Music Makers.

Here's another fun fact, pretending to be the Maestro in this spot is Pat Harrington, better known as TV's Schneider from "One Day At A Time."
