Happy Paczki Day!
I didn't go to Hamtramck this year, but to the next best alternative....
These are from Brieschke's Bakery in Sylvania....a half dozen of these baked gems!
I got two chocolate, two white cream and two plain
Are you getting hungry yet?

This day in Welk history
On this day, twenty seven years ago on February 24, 1982....
The very last original episode of the Welk Show was taped, it would later air nationwide on April 17th

Wow, that was 27 years ago....and the show it self ran twenty seven years!
Also, today is a double celebration.
Today is the birthday of yours truly, I turn thirty-two......
......and it's also Paczki Day!
Now I have two reasons to celebrate!
I wonder if it's possible to put thirty-two candles on a single paczki?

Super Bowl, Haikus and Paczkis....oh my!
That was one exciting Super Bowl....for once, and congratulations to the New York Giants for winning it all!
The commercials were.....meh....commercials, although the Coke ad featuring the Underdog, Stewie and Charlie Brown parade floats was cute, but seriously....how the hell does Chuck get the bottle of Coke? He has no superpowers to speak of!
Now something long overdue, one of my trademark Welk hakius....this one is a Natalie Nevins.

Singer, Flautist and can bake
Blueberry Muffins
And tomorrow is Paczki Day, I'll be gettin' up North to Hamtramck for those pastry delights....and look for some cool vinyl records too, weather permitting.

Paczki and Records
Happy Paczki Day everyone.....or Happy Fat Tuesday to be exact.
Earlier today, I went up to Detroit for some vinyl record shopping at Car City Records in St. Clair Shores...they got a really nice collection of 45s and 78s of all genres. Here's me in my car, making the trip north up I-75 and as you can tell, the weather is starting to improve from last week....
And inside Car City Records....a sampling of what they have in stock.
I purchased four neat albums; Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water", The Watergate Comedy Hour, Jim Nabors' "Everything Is Beautiful" and of course.....Lawrence Welk's 34 Sparkling Melodies, another classic Ranwood Records release.
After an hour and a half of vinyl huntin'....it's off to nearby Hamtramck to get some tasty paczkis, I found this nice Polish bakery, The New Polka Bakery on Conant Avenue where I got a half dozen of tasty Bavarian Chocolates.
And boy are they delicious! Notice I had one already....and like me, you don't have to be Polish to celebrate Paczki Day.
Admit it....looking at these treats are making you hungry, I wonder what kind of paczkis the Music Makers like the best?
Also, today is Mardi Gras....hope the folks down in New Orleans are having fun!

I'm gonna need one of these....
Looks like were going to be dumped with the white stuff...seven inches to about a foot's worth here in Toledo, and my car may not have enough horsepower to get through the snow drifts.Jeez...when will winter be over with, so I can start wearing my Hawaiian shirts and shorts again?
At least Paczki Day is just a week from now, time to start saving up to get some of those paczkis....especially the chocolate filled ones, maybe I'll might go to Hamtramck this year.
I'm gonna need one of these....
