The answer comes in two words.....Rose Weiss
She's been outfitting the Music Makers in threads that makes the men look handsome, the girls so pretty and all of them very colorful indeed!

The worst clothes; it drove Welk off the airways.
Yeah, with 30 years on the airwaves, clearly anonymous knows what they're talking about! What show outfits both host and performers these days?! Pretty amazing work!
what's up with the 1st idiots comment. Does that moron know that the Welk show is still on the airways on PBS? And does that moron know that the ONLY show that has stayed on the air longer than Welk is "I Love Lucy"? Pretty good company, I would say. Know what you're talking about before you post a comment, you idiot.
Thousands watch the Lawrence Welk Show because it's so bad which makes it hysterically funny! GALES of laughter! My favorite ridiculous moment was when George Cates, directing RHAPSODY IN BLUE, loses his baton which FLIES out of his hands and goes SPINNING across the stage! No WONDER a previous post compared it to I LOVE LUCY! They just don't make comedy like that anymore. Thanks, PBS, for years and years of riotous laughter!
You must be high or an alien!?
I love the wardrobe! Look at the quality of cloth where were they made? USA?
So glad to have caught the interview with Rose Weiss today on pbs. Sometimes her clothes on the Welk show make me say WOW out loud!! Happy she's from DETROIT! She absolutely found the essence of the show!! She and Welk, a match made in heaven!
Always appreciate the hard work of costumers/designers. Rose worked to stay on budget and give the show a look that quickly says, you are watching Lawrence Welk. She did this from 1955 to 1982 on a regular basis and includes the challenge that a musician has different costuming needs that a singer, than a dancer, etc.

I always wondered how many stitchers were employed to make all those costumes week after week.
