Akron's Rubber Bowl, where everything's a stretch

And so the tale of another adventure in college football shall be told....

I got to see my UT rockets play the University of Akron last night in exciting collegiate gridiron action, this was my first time every I saw a game at the venerable Rubber Bowl stadium....a Buckeye State icon.

Built in 1940, the facility has hosted in addition to Akron Zips football, Cleveland Browns preseason games, high school action and concerts such as Simon & Garfunkel and the Rolling Stones.

Anyone from Akron (or Northeast Ohio) knew if Lawrence Welk and his Champagne Music Makers ever played the Bowl as well?

This season is the last for the stadium, Akron is buliding an on-campus facility which will open next year, and last night's game was the second-to-last contest held here.

Anyway, I got to see some exciting football action.....

....and met some of the locals

....and as usual, UT lost 47-30.

With the exception of the final score, it was a wunnerful night for football!
