Stop and smell the roses

Let's get the new year off right with Sandi and Sally....

....and Ohio State playing Oregon in the Rose Bowl.

Did you know Lawrence was Grand Marshall of the Tournament of Roses Parade?

But officer, we're in a hurry....

"Today is the first Saturday of college football and Ohio State is playing Navy at the Horseshoe....

....and Toledo is playing Purdue at noon, we must make it before kickoff

....and did we mention that the new season of Lawrence Welk on public television starts tonight?"

Back from Columbus!

It was everything that I expected, a wunnerful show featuring three lovely icons from television's golden age.

The drive down was pleasant, I had plenty of time to some sight-seeing hours before the show. One of such places was Ohio Stadium on the campus of THE Ohio State University.

Afterwards, it was off to the Aladdin Shrine Center, site of today's concert

And here are the ladies; Kathy, Janet and Mimi!

Since I got lots to do, I will be sure to put more pictures up on the main webpage, assuming my local internet connection is working right.

Back home for Thanksgiving

I'm back from a short stay in Baltimore-Washington DC, and found out that these following great things have happened.

UT actually won a game, 42-14 over Miami of Ohio....

and OSU beat Michigan....again

But I am back in time to celebrate Thanksgiving, in both real life and on public television courtesy of the Champagne Music Makers from 1973!

Here's Ralna having a bit of holiday cheer after singing "Y'all Come"....

Larry Hooper is trying to sing his number, but the trombone section won't have any of it.....

Tanya is singing "What the World Needs Now (Is Love Sweet Love)".....

The duo of Gail (Farrell) and (Dick) Dale keeping warm by singing "Button Up Your Overcoat"

And let's dance with Cissy and Bobby by doing the Jenny Lind Polka!

Later....O-H-I-O!

Feels real good for a Monday

Okay....It may not be beach weather but it sure does feel nice and comfortable here in Toledo...

Ready for tonight's college football title game....sorry LSU fans but I'm pulling for the Bucks.

My ticket for the Forever Blowing Bubbles show (June in Eastlake) and a receipt for my tix to see Gail, Sandi & Mary Lou in concert (July at Bear Creek Farms) arrived in the mail today....so I am locked in.

And of course, I'll be sure to provide pictures as well...

I have a feeling that 2008 will be a productive year for all things Welk....at least for this blogmeister.

Go Bucks!

Howdy folks....it's about less than half an hour away til' the Ohio State Buckeyes face the University of Florida Gators in the desert in Arizona for all the marbles in college football.

Being an Ohio native, playing to my state loyalties....it will be OHIO STATE 30, FLORIDA 17.

I wonder who are the Welk stars pulling for? And since Ralna English lives in nearby Scottsdale, will be at the game in Glendale tonight?

Should be a wunnerful national championship game to watch!

OSU v Michigan

The Game To End All College Football Games is today, and here in the state of Ohio....this one is a doozy.

This blogmeister's prediction? OHIO STATE 34, MICHIGAN 24 - GO BUCKS!

I wonder if Mr. Welk ever rooted for the Buckeyes or Wolverines? Or perhaps if any of the musical family have followed this rivarly? It would be great to know!

Welk stars say Go Bucks!

From the 1970 New Years Eve show, Bob Lido and his Hotsy Totsy Boys are playing a happy tune....probably because that the Ohio State Buckeyes are the Number One college football team in the country so far.

Of course, this blogmeister is from Toledo....and all my fellow Buckeye Welk fans feel the same way!
