The Lennon Sisters were recently featured in the Sunday June 6th issue of Parade magazine in Walter Scott's Personality Parade section.
If you're trying to find it online, it ain't there, it's print only so here's the actual Q&A here for your reading pleasure.
And many thanks to my friend Peter MacNeil for the heads up!
Below is the actual question reprinted from Parade with Walter Scott providing the answer....
Q: Whatever happened to The Lennon Sisters, who were on The Lawrence Welk Show in the 1950s and 60s? I seem to remember they had a problem with Welk. - Faye Bush, Wilmington, N.C.
A: Two of the four original Lennon Sisters, Diane and Peggy, have retired. However, the other two, Kathy and Janet, now perform with youngest sister Mimi as a trio, primarily at the Welk Resort Theater in Branson, Mo. "We have the same Lennon family blend and sound," Kathy, 66, tells us.
Were there problems with Mr. Welk? Not really. "He was like a grandfather to us - we were afraid of him and we loved him," Kathy says. "He was a taskmaster, a mentor. It was an incredible schooling for the entertainment world."
