Lawrence Welk remembers the Spectrum

This post is for all the Welk fans who are from Philadelphia....

You might have known that South Philly's venerable arena will soon be history, with the last ever event held there was on Halloween Night with a Pearl Jam concert.

The Spectrum, in addition to be the home of 76ers basketball and Flyers hockey also hosted concerts from every walk of music life this era such as Bruce Springsteen, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Boots Randolph, Doobie Brothers and yes Lawrence Welk and his Music Makers.

I found this out on the webpage, REMEMBER THE SPECTRUM

The Maestro did two shows in the arena by the way

AUGUST 28, 1968 and AUGUST 23, 1975
You can find them in the CONCERTS page under the HISTORY tab

Any of you guys out there went to either show? Feel free to share your memories, it's cool that Joe Feeney sang and Myron Floren played accordion in the same building where Dr. J sank sixteen feet jump shots against the Lakers
