Let's meet another fine Champagne Music Maker today, from the reeds and woodwinds section it's Bob Davis!
The native son of Brawley, California first joined the Welk orchestra in 1965 when longtime favorite Bill Page left. Bob, whose previous experience included stints with the Les Brown band, soon fit right in with that Champagne sound.
Over a span of seventeen years, Davis played both the flute, saxophone, piccolo and clarinet. He also dated Sally Flynn during the early 1970s and later on was married to Sherry Aldridge of the Aldridge Sisters.
After making his home in Nashville for a while with his own band, "Bob Davis and his Prime Time Orchestra", he now makes his home in Fort Pierce, Florida where he's still making music....he and his band performs at venues in the area.
Great teacher
ReplyDeleteBob taught me so much about playing Alto Sax in just two years...I can never repay him. Music friends forever!!

I was wondering is he still alive?
ReplyDeleteYes he is!
DeleteHe is and plays in several bands. Also teaches.
ReplyDeleteIs Bob alive and still paying music these days (2020)? He is one of the few remaining orchestra members left I believe. I hope he knows how much he is appreciated for such great music through the years!
ReplyDeleteYes, I speak with him every so often. He's going to be teaching me again very soon.
ReplyDeletethis man is an amazing teacher!! he was teaching me a short bit ago but recently moved away. he is still alive and well! I could never have done what this man did in the short months he was teaching me.
ReplyDeleteDo you have his contact information? I am trying to reach him. I am his cousin and have lost contact with him. If you have an email or phone number, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThis man is an amazing teacher, family friend, and overall beautiful person and blessing to this earth. I have been taking lessons with him for around 4 years now and I cannot emphasize how much he has taught me and how grateful I am to have him in my life. I hope to one day honor him by continuing his legacy in a career as a professional musician.
ReplyDeleteHe's currently moving, so we are taking a break from lessons, but I hope to see him again soon.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Davis tonight at the Hotel where I work. I have shown him these messages and also the comment from a cousin that has lost contact. I was unfortunately unable to give him anymore info since it was posted anonymously. He seemed interested to know who it was and maybe he will reach out to his cousins when he has some free time, not that he knows someone is wanting to be back in contact.
